Wearable Technology and Pulse Transit Time (PTT) Used to Assess Workplace Violence Incidents in Nursing

نویسندگان

چکیده

Nurses are exposed to incidents of workplace violence involving patients and their family members, also coworkers. Studies occupational stressors generally rely on subjective self-reports, questionnaires, or biometric biochemical markers in long-cycle time intervals, but such assessments offer little guidance HF/E intervention efforts. This study examined the viability using wearable sensors detect incidents, included measurement pulse transit (PTT) as a biomarker continuous blood pressure. Six nurses were monitored over seven days. The electrocardiogram, PTT, activity level measured custom-designed armband. Participants used wristwatch (Empatica E4) log smartphone survey app rate incident severity. Results show PTT was more reliable indicator than low- high-frequency (LF/LH) ratio heart variability, offering robust way continuously monitor critical events noninvasively long periods demanding work environments.

Pulse Transit Time (PTT) Measurements During Laparoscopic and Open Abdominal Surgery: A Pilot Study in ASA I-II Female Patients

Background: The pulse transit time (PTT) is the time interval between the R-wave of the ECG and the appearance of the pulse wave in the periphery during the same cardiac cycle. PTT is influenced by various factors including sympathetic tone and vascular compliance. The authors assessed the effect of anesthesia, intubation and laparoscopic (LPS) versus laparotomic (LPT) surgery on PTT. Methods: ...

Development and Evaluation of Methods to Assess Physical Exposures in the Workplace using Wearable Technologies

Work-related musculoskeletal disorders (WSMDs) are an important health concern in the workplace. Accurately quantifying the level of physical exposures (i.e., kinematics and kinetics) is essential for risk assessments, developing and/or testing interventions, and improving estimates of exposure-response relationships. Such exposures ideally should be quantified in situ, while workers interact w...
